MBR Membrane Bioreactor Wastewater Treatment Systems

MBR (Membrane Bioreactor) Systems

Advanced Biological Treatment and Ultrafiltration Membrane Integration

Membrane Bioreactor (MBR) technology combines the conventional activated sludge biological treatment process with ultrafiltration membrane separation. Replacing space-consuming secondary clarifiers and sand polishing filters, submerged membranes pull treated effluent directly out of high MLSS (8,000–12,000 mg/L) aeration tanks.

Produces virtually pathogen-free, crystal-clear effluent suitable for direct irrigation, cooling towers, or feed to reverse osmosis for zero-liquid discharge (ZLD) plants.

Advantages & Features

  • Occupies 70% less land footprint compared to conventional activated sludge clarifiers
  • Operates at high mixed liquor suspended solids (MLSS: 8,000 - 12,000 mg/L)
  • Complete physical separation of suspended solids, providing effluent turbidity < 0.2 NTU
  • Direct reuse for landscape irrigation, flushing, cooling tower makeup, or RO feed
  • Submerged PVDF hollow fiber or flat-sheet membrane module configurations
  • Automated cyclic relaxation, backpulse, and air scouring keeping membranes pristine
