Industrial deionization systems (demineralizers) pass water through strong acid cation (SAC) resin beds in hydrogen (H⁺) form and strong base anion (SBA) resin beds in hydroxide (OH⁻) form. The replaced ions recombine to form pure H₂O molecules, removing virtually all dissolved inorganic electrolytes and reactive silica.
For ultra-critical applications such as high-pressure power generation steam boilers, polishing Mixed-Bed (Mix-Bed) columns are installed downstream, consistently achieving conductivity < 0.1 µS/cm and silica < 10 ppb.
